Shnuggle, the clever baby products company is celebrating its founders, Sinead and Adam Murphy, with both receiving MBEs in a special year.

The couple have been awarded Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for Services to Trade and the Economy in Northern Ireland as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2022.

The Queen’s Birthday Honours marks the extraordinary contributions and service of people across the United Kingdom from all walks of life.

Recently launching a new eco touch nappy bin, Shnuggle have grown a prestigious international business over the last twelve years including significant growth overseas and designing and producing around twenty core products. The MBEs are further testament to the husband and wife team’s commitment to the business world.

No stranger to awards, as a market leader in the baby bath-time and product categories, Shnuggle has won 50 awards for innovation, international trade, and sustainable development.

Shnuggle also celebrated a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2019 and held a special event attended by the Queen’s representative, David Lindsay HM Lord Lieutenant, in Co.Down.

From humble beginnings as an idea developed at the dining table by co-founders Adam and Sinead Murphy, Shnuggle began trading in 2009. The company now exports to over 40 countries, is market leader in South Korea and has sales across Europe, the Americas and Asia.

Shnuggle products are sold online via their own website and are stocked in major retailers including Next, John Lewis, Mothercare, Mamas & Papas plus independent nursery stores across the UK and Ireland.

The company has created many opportunities for business and trade in Northern Ireland and Newtownards by raising its profile and providing jobs and opportunities for the local community. Now an 18-person strong team, Shnuggle also operates its own warehouse distributing products worldwide.

Sinead Murphy MBE of Shnuggle, aged 44, said: “We are overjoyed to receive MBEs from The Queen in this platinum Jubilee year and we are delighted that our efforts in supporting trade and the economy in Northern Ireland have been recognised. We started with a simple purpose; to help keep babies safe, and we’ve led the way in making a baby’s first 12 months a relaxing and fun experience around the world.
