World Breastfeeding brand, Medela, is encouraging mums to slow down and take note of all the amazing achivements, following a recent survey and in the midst of ‘self-care September’.

A new social survey* of more than 300 mums found that a huge 95% of mums feel motherhood is all consuming at times and 78% admitted to not recognising their achievements in motherhood. This is where Medela’s Milk Your Milestone campaign comes in, ensuring mums celebrate all of the little wins, however big or small.

When asked when they last managed to finish a hot tea, some mothers joked ‘the day my baby was born!’ and ‘what is a hot tea?!’ Medela believes it is time for mums to have their cuppa (whist its still hot!) and enjoy it!

The thoughtful ‘Milk Your Milestone’ campaign aims to inspire women to pay more attention to themselves, to celebrate their own mini (and big) milestones in motherhood and to be kind to themselves. Whether it’s making it to a certain goal in their breastfeeding/pumping journey (1 day, 1 week, 1 month or 1 year all being important), or it could be expressing their highest volume of milk so far, breastfeeding in public for first time or even just managing to finish a cup of tea whilst it’s still hot, Medela believes every milestone, big or small, should be acknowledged.

As part of the popular nationwide initiative, Medela is once again, calling for mums across the country to join the positive movement and give themselves some recognition for reaching their Mini Milestones, however big or small. To get as many mums as possible involved, Medela is taking to its social pages to give away positive affirmation mini prints, to stick on the fridge, in a notebook, on the dressing table mirror or wherever mum can benefit from the ‘celebrate every mini milestone’ messaging.

Further to this, playful and positive stickers have been created for mums to stick anywhere from their phones to their pumps, to remind them just how amazing they are.

Medela’s Marketing Manager, Charlotte Price, commented:

‘It is so important that mums take the time to recognise how far they have come in their journeys, and the incremental positive changes or achievements that have happened day to day. Whether this is expressing the most milk yet, or making it to 1, 3 or 6 months breastfeeding, we know that celebrating these milestones is so worthwhile, and can make all the difference in mum’s mental wellbeing. This month is all about selfcare, so the perfect opportunity to reward yourself for hitting those all important milestones!’
