An 11-year-old Liverpool supporter and budding match reporter has won tickets for January’s Premier League clash with Chelsea, courtesy of a special Joie Baby competition.
The Reds’ official family partner recently invited Junior Members to submit their very own written summary of the team’s 3-1 victory over Southampton at Anfield.
The fixture was selected for the competition as it was the nearest men’s match to World Children’s Day, which is marked annually on November 20.
Young fan Conor was chosen as the winner for his entertaining review of a game that saw Roberto Firmino and Darwin Nunez (two) deliver the goals for Jürgen Klopp’s side.

Anfield was buzzing for the last game before the break for the World Cup. We were missing Jürgen as he was banished to the stands for his suspension but Pep Lijnders was there to take charge of the Reds. The Kop was in full swing and the fans were singing long before the players came on to the pitch. A minute’s silence was held for Remembrance Day before kick-off.
We were just six minutes in when Mo Salah was clattered to the ground by Duje Caleta-Car, who got booked for his actions. The free-kick was launched in by Andy Robertson and our super Brazilian Bobby Firmino, despite facing away from goal, headed into the net to make it 1-0.
The celebrations didn’t last long, though, because our goalscorer Bobby then conceded a free-kick which was whipped in by Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse and headed past Alisson Becker by Che Adams to equal the tie after just nine minutes. Game on!
Our boys went up a gear immediately and laid siege to the Southampton defence. We got our reward when Harvey Elliott placed a delightful pass into the path of Darwin Nunez, who calmly slotted into the bottom right corner. It was no more than Liverpool deserved and Nunez was the thorn in Southampton’s side again shortly afterwards when Andy Robertson sent a pinpoint cross into the box for Nunez to slide home again.
Anfield was bouncing and we felt there would be more goals coming despite Gavin Bazunu making an outstanding save from Salah, but half-time gave Saints a break from the Liverpool dominance.
In the second half, Liverpool had a penalty shout when Armel Bella-Kotchap brought down Salah in the penalty area but the ref waved play on. Our Mr Reliable James Milner came on in the 68th minute for Harvey Elliott to make his 600th Premier League appearance. What a player!
Alisson Becker had shaved off his massive beard for his 150th Premier League appearance and he made three brilliant saves in the second half to keep the score at 3-1.
An important three points for Liverpool were secured going into the break for the World Cup and we will be back at Anfield against Leicester on December 30. The best of luck to all our players going to Qatar to represent their countries!
