The Baby Products Industry Association (BPIA) has announced the finalists of its 2024 Concept & Innovation Awards, sponsored by law firm Brabners.
Numerous entrants were interviewed by a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style panel, but the four new product ideas which caught the attention of the judges most were the following:
Allan Ireland Park with Baby By U
A multi-function baby chair, bassinet, lounger & rocker with castors to move it from room to room to ensure constant supervision.
Jacqui Nancey with Easi-breather colic relief baby mattress
A comfortable, ergonomically designed and perhaps controversial baby-friendly mattress for newborn babies aged zero (0-6) to six months of age.
June Pennykid & John Suttie with The Home System by Penny+Kids
Furniture that grows and evolves with the child from a moses basket (birth-6 months), to a highchair (6 months – 2 years), a junior chair (6 months-2 years), a play pen / cot (6 months-3 years); and finally to a pre-school play table and chair (3-5 years)
Thomas & Peter Hearn with the Foot Swing
A foot swing designed to provide enhanced leg support to young children in a CRS, reducing discomfort, and improving overall child safety and well-being during car journeys (improved since entry in the 2023 awards)
All four finalists will be invited to attend Harrogate International Nursery Fair from 13th to 15th October to present their ideas to the industry. The winner will be announced at the show on the afternoon of Sunday 13th and will be presented with an award and prize of £1000 free legal advice from sponsor Brabners.
