Axkid AB, the Swedish company specialising in car seats and child safety in vehicles, has acquired Malmö-based Påhoj AB – known for its award-winning bike seat that transforms into a stroller.
The acquisition is a strategic move that combines Swedish innovation with global reach, where Axkid’s established distribution network will give Påhoj the opportunity to grow internationally.
Swedish car seat company Axkid AB has acquired Påhoj AB – the company behind the innovative product Påhoj, a unique combination of a bike seat and a stroller. The acquisition, finalized on March 28, 2025, includes all assets such as IP rights, inventory, and product innovations. Integration into Axkid’s operations begins immediately.
With Påhoj, Axkid takes a natural next step in expanding its offer – from car travel to urban bike routes – venturing outside the car for the first time. This enables the company to offer even more flexible and safe solutions for families with young children.
“Påhoj is a fantastic product that aligns perfectly with Axkid’s philosophy: combining innovation, functionality, and safety. We see great potential in integrating Påhoj into our product portfolio and making it available to more families around the world. We are now starting an exciting journey to merge our strengths”, says Daniel Johansson, CEO of Axkid.
Påhoj has gained popularity among urban families with young children and has been praised for its clever design – allowing the child to go from riding on the back of a bike to strolling along, without ever being lifted out.
“It feels incredibly meaningful to see Påhoj live on through Axkid. I started Påhoj out of a personal need as a parent in the city, and I’ve run it with great passion for several years. Now the product will take new flight – and I’m proud that it’s happening together with a company that shares our values around quality, design, safety, sustainability, and everyday life with children”, says Lycke von Schantz, founder and inventor of Påhoj.
Axkid views the acquisition as part of a long-term strategy to remain at the forefront of child mobility, safety, and innovation – both inside and outside the car. The acquisition also paves the way for future product development in new use areas.
