Nursery and childrenswear retailer Mamas & Papas said it would close its stores on Boxing Day for the first time this year to give employees additional time-off with their families over the festive period.
The Huddersfield headquartered company, which operates 22 standalone stores and eight Next concessions, said the move was a token of its appreciation for the ‘relentless effort and energy’ of its employees during the pandemic.
Mark Saunders, Chief Executive Officer at Mamas & Papas, added: “It’s been a challenging year for all those working in the retail sector. Our colleagues have worked tirelessly throughout supporting our customers at what is a life-changing moment for them. As a leading family friendly employer, we’ve taken the decision to extend our Christmas closure for their benefit, giving them more time to rest and reconnect with their loved ones.”
