Axkid is proud to announce that Axkid Zero has been awarded Midwives’ Choice at Kind + Jugend 2026 in Cologne. The recognition marks an important milestone for Axkid’s latest innovation in newborn safety and reinforces the company’s commitment to developing car seats around the real needs of children from the very beginning.
Axkid Zero was created from a simple insight: newborns are not small versions of older children. Their bodies are still developing, with limited neck strength, proportionally heavy heads, naturally curved spines and very small airways. As a result, positioning and support play a critical role in infant protection.
Engineered for newborn anatomy
Newborns are not fully developed and require a different approach to protection. They have limited neck strength, proportionally heavy heads, naturally curved spines, and extremely small airways. Even minor misalignment can affect both safety and breathing. Zero is designed around these conditions, with particular consideration for premature and smaller babies. From their very first journey, Axkid Zero supports the body exactly where stability and protection are needed.
“We are honoured to receive the Midwives’ Choice at Kind + Jugend,” says Anton Wall, Vice President of Axkid. “This recognition reflects our ambition to redefine newborn safety and raise the standard for the infant car seat category.”
Axkid Zero was also developed around the practical realities of everyday life with a newborn. Its lightweight construction makes it easier to carry between the car, home and stroller, while also supporting parents recovering from a caesarean birth, without compromising safety performance.
“With Zero, we wanted to raise the expectations of what an infant car seat should deliver,” says Anton Wall. “That means designing around the realities of newborn anatomy, while also creating a solution that is lightweight, intuitive and better adapted to everyday life with a newborn.”
Recognition from midwives
Receiving the Midwives’ Choice is especially meaningful, as midwives have a deep understanding of newborns and the needs of families during the earliest stages of life. Their recognition of Zero is a strong acknowledgement of the research and development behind the product.
