Axkid today announces the launch of Zero, a new infant car seat designed with one clear purpose: to take newborn anatomy seriously. In a market where infant car seats are often positioned as lifestyle accessories – chosen for convenience, aesthetics, or compatibility with stroller systems – Axkid is shifting the focus back to what matters most: how the seat actually protects the child.
For many parents, an infant car seat is purchased as part of a travel system, without fully considering whether it truly fits their baby’s unique needs. Axkid Zero challenges this norm. Developed from the company’s core safety principles, it is engineered to protect the head, neck, spine, and airways – based on the realities of newborn anatomy.
Engineered for the smallest and most vulnerable
Newborns are not fully developed. They have limited neck strength, proportionally heavy heads, naturally curved spines, and extremely small airways. Even minor misalignment can affect both safety and breathing. Zero is designed around these conditions from the very first journey, supporting the body exactly where stability and protection are needed.
“Axkid Zero represents a fundamental shift in how infant car seats should be developed and evaluated,” says Anton Wall, Vice CEO and Chief Commercial Officer at Axkid.
“Today, most infant car seats are designed and tested for babies weighing from 3.5 kg and above. But many newborns are smaller than that. Zero is developed to fit all children from the very beginning, including the smallest babies, thanks to its optimised insert system. We’re bringing a solution to the market that truly reflects the diversity of newborn needs.”
Lightweight without compromise
Zero is also one of the lightest infant car seats on the market, weighing from just 2.5 kg depending on configuration – significantly lighter than the industry standard of 4.5–5 kg. This lightweight design supports everyday usability, particularly for parents recovering from caesarean birth, without compromising on safety performance.
Introducing Zero Pro
Axkid Zero is now launching in its Pro variant, featuring the Optima Insert system, developed to adapt to different newborn sizes and to adjust as the child grows. With this launch, Axkid sets out to redefine expectations in the infant car seat category, moving away from lifestyle positioning and towards evidence-based protection for the most fragile passengers.
