WaterWipes today announce the UK winner of the fifth annual Pure Foundation Fund, which celebrates the achievements of healthcare professionals (HCPs) and departments working in maternity, neonatal and postnatal care.
This year’s Pure Foundation Fund winner is the Liverpool Women’s Hospital Neonatal Team, who received a generous bursary of £10,000 for their department to continue to support their ongoing efforts to deliver exceptional care to families and babies. The Liverpool Women’s Hospital Neonatal Team was nominated for providing round-the-clock care with expertise and compassion, and always making their patients feel reassured that their little ones were in the best hands possible.
Nominator April Lyon said: “This team cared for our baby for 10 weeks until we were transferred back to our city, and during this time they involved us in all decisions, took time to listen to us and made us feel important in our baby’s care – from matching her outfits to sending messages of reassurance at 5am when I was sat alone in the dark. Having spent five months across five different NICUs, this team always stood out as head and shoulders above the rest.
“Being NHS doctors ourselves, this team reminded us why we have given our lives to our careers and why human connection is the key to patient centred care. We owe our baby’s life and our little family’s future to this team, who went above and beyond when no one was watching because they could and they wanted to, not because they should.”
Giving parents and fellow HCPs the chance to say ‘thank you’ to those who have gone above and beyond, WaterWipes focused this year’s Pure Foundation Fund on HCPs who have helped care for babies born prematurely or admitted into the NICU. Unlike previous years, voters could nominate not just an individual, but also an entire team or unit.
Jill Harrison, Clinical Lead at The Liverpool Women’s Hospital Neonatal Team, said of the win: “We’re so thrilled by the news that we have won this year’s WaterWipes Pure Foundation Fund. It’s been a wonderful boost for everyone on the team and a testament to everyone’s hard work and dedication.”
WaterWipes received over 1300 nominations from across the UK and Ireland for this year’s Pure Foundation Fund. Nominations in the UK were reviewed by a panel consisting of representatives from WaterWipes®, alongside UK neonatal charity Bliss.
Brogan Chesters, Brand Acceleration Manager at WaterWipes, said: “This year’s Pure Foundation Fund nominations have truly moved us, underscoring the invaluable impact of maternal, neonatal, and postnatal healthcare on families in the UK and Ireland. We’re thrilled to recognize and give thanks to these unsung heroes with WaterWipes bursary funds, helping to advance care in these critical areas.”
