CAR SEATS – ERF MONTH: Over on page 12, Axkid shines a spotlight on extended rear facing through its annual awareness campaign. The brand continues to champion the importance of keeping children rear facing for longer, highlighting how this remains one of the safest ways to travel by car. The campaign aims to bridge the gap between official guidance and real-world behaviour. While regulations across many European countries require rear-facing travel until at least 15 months, best practice recommendations go much further. Axkid points out that organisations including the World Health Organization, the American Academy of Pediatrics and leading European road safety bodies all continue to advocate extended rear facing as the safest option for young children.

PLUS: Our contributors this month bring you articles of interest. As always, our contributors continue to explore topics that matter to the industry. Independent retailers consistently highlight the importance of expert in-store advice, customer service and long-term support for parents navigating the often overwhelming world of baby products. In his latest opinion piece on page 36, Pramland’s John Barker reflects on his first visit to a consumer baby show. John questions whether the overall experience and cost really compare with the benefits of shopping locally, while also discussing sales approaches, customer reviews and the growing importance of online reputation management in today’s retail landscape.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Feingold brings his international perspective once again on page 50 with a fascinating look at Greece’s baby gear market. In this feature, Jonathan explores how culture, trust and multi-generational influence continue to shape purchasing decisions across the country. Drawing on personal experience and conversations with retailers and families, he examines why specialist retail remains so valued, how premium brands continue to perform despite economic pressures, and why Greece remains one of Europe’s most distinctive and resilient nursery markets.
